Urs ceremony is a highly sacred occasion in sufism which marks the death anniversary of renowned saints. In other words, Urs is also described as a festival where a saint or a sufi is believed to reach the zenith of one’s spiritual journey. The celebrations are carried out usually in a dargah which is the tomb or shrine of the sufi saint. One of the most popular Urs ceremony takes place at the heart of Motamiyan Mangrol. Sandal ceremony is conducted at the sacred tomb of various saints on the same day in accordance to the order of ancestral saints. Urs begins in the divine presence of Present Sajjadanashin- successor of the gadi His Holiness Khwaja Salimuddin Fariduddin Chishty.
Since the Motamiyan Mangrol has been decided as a gadi by the saints, Urs here is celebrated for 15 days in the remembrance. Devotees from all over the globe, belonging to different religions visit this sacred dargah in Motamiyan Mangrol during the Urs ceremony. Sandal Ceremony, Quran Khwani, Shijra Khwani, Fatiha Khwani, duas are done during the Urs followed by distribution of langer, apart from the same various educational, social and spiritual programs are also arranged evry year. During the celebration, the entire dargah is drenched in the melodious divine prayer, Mehfil-e-Sama and Bhajans as a part of Urs.
The Urs is also celebrated for two days at various other shrines-dargahs associated with the Gadi of Motamiyan Mangrol.
The whole aura of this place is so strong that even the most ignorant of hearts gets awaked by the Sufi consciousness. Tears flow out of the eyes effortlessly in the wake of the pure feeling of faith lurking all around. This dargah is believed to be one of the most consecrated places of worship. No one who worships at this dargah with a pure heart goes disheartened.
